Swimming course, Age Group and Elite

The swimming course is situated at Lillebælt, behind the beautiful fortifications that make up Øster Voldgade of Fredericia.
The swimming course is a genuine open-water course, and as such currents and waves are to be expected. The course is a square of 750m, which is to be navigated in two rounds for AG OL distance, and once only for Elige and AG Draft.

AG OL Distance:
After the first lap, the AG athletes will be running a stretch of around 25m before they will once again be able to re-enter the swimming course.
Starting is done in the watgr, at the end of the *pier* at Øster Beach. The first leg of the journey is swam parallel to the beach to the first turning point, at which point the course turns directly away from the beach until the second turning point. From here, the course goes parallel to the beach until the 3'rd turning point, at which point the athlete will begin swimming towards the beach again.
After the first lap, the athlete will then get out of the water and unto the beach, where they will run back to the bridge and swim their second round.
At the end of the second round, the athletes will run up the embankment and into the changing zone.

Elite and AG Draft:
Starting is done in the water, at the end of the *pier* at Øster Beach. The first leg of the journey is swam parallel to the beach to the first turning point, at which point the course turns directly away from the beach until the second turning point. From here, the course goes parallel to the beach until the 3'rd turning point, at which point the athlete will begin swimming towards the beach again.
After the first lap, the athletes will the run up the embankment, and into the changing zone.

General information:
The expected temperature of the water is between 15 and 20 degrees.
As per DTriF tournament guidelines, a wetsuit is to be worn during the swimming stage.
As the course is open water, a current, waves and choppy waters are to be expected.

Swimming course, Beginners and Youth Triathlon

Starting is done in the water, at the end of the pier at Øster Strand. The first leg of the journey is swam parallel to the beach to the first turning point, at which point the course turns directly away from the beach until the second turning point. From here, the course goes parallel to the beach until the 3'rd turning point, at which point the athlete will begin swimming towards the beach again.
After the first lap, the athlete will then get out of the water and unto the beach
